Is the program closed?
Applications for our main program of summer instruction are now closed; however, you may still apply for our personalized tutoring services.
What if I paid without knowing that applications were closed?
Unfortunately, GoFundMe does not offer refunds. This message is written in large text in two places on our website. The most we can do is transfer you funds into our personalized tutoring services.
How long is a course and meeting session?
Each meeting will be roughly a hour long (with time at the end for additional questions), and each course will consist of 8 meetings held weekly over the span of 8 weeks.
Where will courses be held?
Due to the nature of the current situation with COVID-19, all courses will be held online through Zoom. Our team will send an email with the zoom link for each class prior to the meeting.
How hard are these courses?
The courses that we offer range in difficulty, from beginner level courses for middle schoolers to more advanced level courses for interested middle schoolers and high schoolers. Most of these courses will be intro level and their purposes are to develop basic understanding within the students.
How much outside work will be necessary?
Like with every class, there will be outside work to a certain degree. We can only teach so much in a hour. There will be plenty of worksheets and handouts for each class that students can use as a resource for building a solid foundation on the material we cover in each class. The exact amount of time for outside work will vary from class to class though. However, we encourage each student to also do their own research and formulate any questions they have for the teachers in the following class.
What if I'm unsure of taking one of the courses?
Don't worry! The first class for each course will be held for free, so all students can see what courses they are interested in and then decide if they want to take that course or not.
Can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, at the expense of the money not touching our hands and going directly to the food bank, we are unable to offer refunds after your donation. These go directly to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, which we have no control over. Thus, we encourage you to first experience each free class (first class for each course) before you make a final payment.
