As a tutor, you will earn service hours that can go towards your graduation service learning requirement. Beyond that, you will get to share your passion for these subjects with young students looking to further their education over the summer, and contribute to a great cause because the students that sign up for your class will be donating to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC!
As a tutor, not only will you be able to help these amazing students, but you personally will able to expand your personal knowledge of a topic through teaching it to others. You will be responsible in creating fun and engaging lessons, and assisting and encouraging students throughout the process. We understand that a lot of you have never tutored before, but no worries! We're confident in your ability to learn to teach the subjects you love and we as the leadership team will be here to provide tips and tricks along the way. Here is a short list of some responsibilities you will have as a tutor:
1. Creating a syllabi for your course.
2. Making engaging and interactive course modules/presentations and activities for each class.
3. Assigning and assessing homework.
4. Being available for those who need extra help outside of class.
5. Hosting 1-2 class sessions a week.
You've got this! Feel free to reach out to anyone on the leadership team via [email protected] or Facebook Messenger with any questions/concerns about the application, and we can't wait to see you this summer!
